Use the Binder view in Advisory Documents

In the Binder view of Advisory Documents, you can create binder templates that you can use when you set up a new client. Binders help you to manage your client’s projects. You can use a binder to add, delete, upload, or download files for your client.

  1. Choose Setup > Advisory Documents Templates.
  2. Create a new template or click an existing template.
  3. On the Binder tab, you can complete the following actions.

Note: You can right-click a folder or document in the Binder tab to choose commands (such as Upload). You can also choose commands from the toolbar.

  • Upload various types of files to the binder.
  • Add scanned items such as Microsoft Word documents and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to the binder.
  • Open files in Onvio Advisory and then edit them locally and sync your changes using Onvio Link.

    Note: You need to have Onvio Link installed to open documents.

  • Preview documents (for example, Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and so forth) in a preview screen that is launched from the application. From the preview screen, you can download the document as a PDF, or you can download it and open it in its native application.
  • Use the Folders panel on the left to organize and view your contact's folders and documents. You can add folders, drag and drop folders and documents to move them to another location, and view the contents of the Recycle Bin.

    Note: You can click the vertical border that divides the two panels to show or hide the Folders panel.

  • Manage the documents and folders in the binder. You can download, download as a zip file, move, copy, rename, and delete documents. You can also view and update document properties (reference, name, delete on finalize, and staff assignment) for a single document or for multiple documents at the same time.
  • Protect (or unprotect) documents to prevent them from being modified, moved, copied, renamed, or deleted.

    Note: You cannot edit protected documents in Onvio Advisory. However, you can download them, edit them in their native application, and then upload the updated documents.

The availability of some or all of these features depends on the applications your firm has licensed and the permissions your firm’s administrator has enabled for you.
