You can add files in a shared folder within the Documents area using the following methods.

  • Add files directly from Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box by clicking the Cloud menu in the toolbar.
  • Add files from your desktop through the Print command using the Onvio print driver.
  • Drag files and folders into the Documents area from your desktop or network. You can also drag items directly onto the folder path at the top of the screen.

  • Scan documents into Onvio.
  • Add Microsoft Word documents and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets by choosing New > Word Document or New > Excel Spreadsheet.

Notes

  • The maximum size for file uploads is 500 MB.
  • For a list of the types of files that you can add to Onvio, see Onvio file types.
  • You cannot drag and drop files from within applications such as Microsoft Outlook into the Documents area; therefore, to add files from Outlook or from other applications, you must first drag the file to a location outside of any applications such as the desktop, and then drag it into the Documents area.
  • You can drag and drop folders into the Documents area only when the application is open in Google Chrome or Firefox.
  • You cannot drag and drop files into the folder path at the top of the screen if Onvio is open in Internet Explorer.
  • When you add a file that already exists in the Documents area, you have the option to replace the original file or to keep both files. If you keep both files, the name of the most recently uploaded file is appended with a "(1)". Onvio sequentially appends any additional files that you upload with the same name.
  • When printing partial tax returns from UltraTax CS to Onvio, note that file names for duplicate preparer copies already stored in Onvio will be appended with the date and time; however, client copies of partial tax returns will be overwritten in Onvio.
  • Larger files may take several minutes to upload. You can continue to work in Onvio during the upload process.
  • A client's contact can add files to shared folders if they have appropriate permissions.
  • To upload more than 100 files at a time, you’ll need to open Onvio through Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 11 or higher.
  • To upload a folder that contains files, you’ll need to open Onvio through Apple Safari, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox.

The availability of some or all of these features depends on the applications your firm has licensed and the permissions your firm’s administrator has enabled for you.
