Import data from Fiduciary Accounting Systems (FAS) into Onvio Tax

After exporting a client's data from Fiduciary Accounting System (FAS) to an .ENCR file, you can import that information directly into the client's tax return in Onvio.

If you have already entered information in some fields in the client's Onvio tax return and the imported FAS data contains information for those same fields, the imported data will overwrite the values previously entered in Onvio.

  1. Click the Actions button Actions button and click the Fiduciary Accounting System link.
  2. Click the Browse for File button in the Fiduciary Accounting System Import panel.
  3. In the Open dialog, navigate to the folder containing the .ENCR file for the current client and click Open. The filename of the .ENCR file contains the FAS client ID (such as "F7US[ClientID].ENCR"), and the file should be found in the C:\FPS\FAS706\FAS\[ClientID] folder.
  4. In the Fiduciary Accounting System Import panel, click the Import button.
  5. Onvio Tax completes the import process and displays the imported amounts on the relevant data-entry screens.

Note: Onvio Tax does not import the following items automatically; see the linked articles for information on entering this information.

Internal notes

Exporting data from FAS

To export the .ENCR file from Fiduciary Accounting System (FAS) to UltraTax, the user completes these steps in FAS.

  1. Click the File menu and choose Onvio 1041 Export to open the Onvio Export Settings dialog.
  2. Complete the Onvio Export Settings dialog by entering the tax year, the beginning and the ending dates for the data that should be imported, and then clicking the Start Export button.
  3. FAS displays a confirmation dialog after the export is complete.

Note: The export file is encrypted to protect the information contained in the file. It is saved in two locations: the OTEA FAS client folder and in the Documents\ONVIO1041 folder on the user’s computer. The standard name for each export file is "F7USFAS Client ID.ENCR." With this naming convention, the FAS Client ID makes each filename unique.

Accessing export help topic in FAS

  1. Choose Help menu > Help
  2. Click the Search tab, enter Export, and then press ENTER.
  3. Select the "Exporting to ONVIO" topic, which contains the steps listed above.
